IIHS Names 2017 Kia Sedona a Top Safety Pick+

Great safety is one of the most important features on a family vehicle, which is why we are proud to announce that the 2017 Kia Sedona has been awarded with the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Top Safety Pick+ awards are not easy to achieve. To qualify, a vehicle must score high in all five crashworthiness tests and earn an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention. The Kia Sedona did just that, even scoring the top “superior” rating for its ability to avoid a collision in both the low speed and high speed tests.

“Buyers often place safety at the top of their list when shopping for a new minivan,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “The IIHS is a highly respected safety authority and we see the 2017 Sedona’s TSP+ rating as validation of Kia’s dedication to its customers and to the continuous efforts to build better and safer vehicles.”

The Autonomous Emergency Braking system utilizes sensors to monitor the distance between vehicles, picking up on speed changes to detect potential collision risks. The system warns the driver and, if the driver does not respond quickly, the brakes are automatically applied. This system, along with Smart Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Blind-Spot Detection, is available through the Advanced Driver Assisted package.

The Sedona joins the ranks of the 2017 Kia Sorento and Sportage, which also boast TSP+ titles. For more information, or to test drive one of our family-friendly vehicles, visit our Kia dealership in Houston today!
