Specs at a Glance
Kia has one of today’s most appealing SUV lineups.
When shopping for a new vehicle, many Kia fans will choose between the 2025 Kia Sportage and the 2025 Kia Telluride. While the compact Sportage will suit the needs of a lot of drivers, the midsize Telluride is ideal for larger families. Let’s take a closer look at how these two SUVs compare.
Performance
The 2025 Kia Sportage comes standard with an efficient 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. It’s rated to develop a competitive 187 horsepower, which is perfect for daily driving. An eight-speed automatic transmission ensures seamless performance. Like the Telluride, the Sportage offers an optional AWD system with a center-locking feature. For adventurous drivers who may journey off the beaten path, Kia offers the more rugged Sportage X-Pro and Telluride X-Pro trims. All-terrain tires and underbody protection enable you to confidently approach the rural backcountry.
Underneath the Telluride’s hood sits a muscular V6 engine with 291 horsepower. Power is fed to the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the smaller Sportage offers excellent maneuverability in tight spaces, it can’t match the Telluride’s sheer muscle. A 5,500-pound maximum towing capacity makes the Telluride more suitable for pulling campers, boats, and trailers. Only the Telluride offers a self-leveling rear suspension for enhanced stability when towing heavier loads.
Appearance
Many drivers love the Sportage’s athletic body styling. Even the Sportage’s entry-level LX trim features machine-finished alloy wheels and LED projector headlights. Higher trim levels come equipped with a panoramic sunroof. Just a few striking exterior color options include Jungle Green, Sapphire Blue, and Dawning Red. An available black contrast roof gives the Sportage a more dramatic look.
When checking out the Telluride, you will immediately notice its boxier shape. This SUV has a strong road presence that demands attention. Like the Sportage, it gives you several cool exterior colors to choose from.
Features
Both of these SUVs give you access to today’s hottest features. While the Telluride receives a 12.3-inch touchscreen interface with navigation as standard equipment, this feature is offered on the Sportage. Other similar available features include a Harmon Kardon premium sound system, ventilated front seats, and a Smart Power Liftgate. Regardless of which SUV you prefer, you will have an array of advanced safety technologies.
