2014 Kia Soul Review For Houston | Features & Photos

About Kia Reviews From Joe Myers Kia

Everyone's favorite urban hatchback/compact crossover, the Kia Soul, returns for 2014 as an all-new model. With a redesigned look, enhanced interior and smoother ride, it's sure to be a hit with the under-30 crowd - and hamsters - you've seen the commercials, right?

The redesigned 2014 Kia Soul doesn't stray far from its original exterior design roots, but does offer some welcome changes like a longer wheelbase, a more streamlined profile and a completely revised front end. Adorned with sleeker headlights and a new, wider grille and air dam, the Soul is more attractive than ever. Underneath its youthful exterior, the Soul makes even more adjustments and refinements. Shoppers can expect to receive added power from the retuned engine options, and a 28 percent stiffer chassis for less jostling on the road. The 2014 Kia Soul is Houston drivers' ticket to fun, the latest in-car technologies, and, for those of you over 30, the fountain of youth - figuratively speaking, of course.

The 2014 Kia Soul is available in Houston in Soul, Plus and Exclaim (previously known as "!") trim levels. The base model Soul comes standard with a direct-injected 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine good for 130 horsepower and 118 lb.-ft. of torque. The Soul Plus and Exclaim both come standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 164 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque. Manual and automatic transmissions are available for all trim levels minus the Exclaim (automatic only).

On the inside, the 2014 Soul highlights higher-quality materials and luxury extras like leather seats and the voice-activated UVO infotainment system by Microsoft. Many 2014 Kia Soul reviews point out that in addition to the items mentioned above, shoppers can expect other standard and optional features, like: full power accessories, cruise control, a chilled glovebox, push-button start, a rearview camera, a sunroof, a premium Infinity sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, navigation, Pandora streaming radio and much more.
