Kia Driving

The engine is the heart of your vehicle. If the engine is not working, serious problems can result. One problem that your engine may encounter is overheating, which can happen for multiple reasons. Other issues in the car's cooling system can often prevent the engine from functioning correctly, leading to strain and engine failure. If you notice warning signs, including smoke under the hood or a burning scent when driving, schedule an appointment for repairs right away.

Cooling System Problems

The cooling system is in charge of regulating your car's engine temperatures. The cooling system maintains the flow of vital fluids, including coolant fluid and oil, into the engine and its neighboring components to help the car run smoothly and efficiently. A few problems can arise with the cooling system that prevents it from maintaining the engine's temperature. This includes a broken radiator, radiator fans, and water pump. The cooling system also has a series of hoses and belts that can prevent coolant fluid passage if they fail. Sometimes you'll be able to pinpoint this issue if you see puddles of green-colored or bluish liquid draining from your car.

Water Pump Problems

The water pump is one of the essential parts of the cooling system. The water pump provides the pressure needed to circulate coolant fluid around the cooling system and the engine. The water pump can't deliver coolant fluid if there is a leak somewhere that causes the coolant fluid to drain from the car. The water pump may also break, which prevents it from delivering coolant fluid. Other smaller components on the water pump can break, too, such as the water pump belt, which then causes the coolant fluid to become trapped in the engine and get too hot.

Radiator and Fans

The radiator is another crucial part of the cooling system. It is responsible for cooling the engine by getting rid of hot air. The radiator system includes fans who help eliminate hot air from the vehicle, which regulates the engine's temperature. The fans may get clogged with dirt or other debris that makes them stop working. The radiator itself may break too, which then causes an increase in engine temperature.

Hoses and Belts

There are multiple hoses and belts in the cooling system that can stop working, keeping coolant fluid from reaching the engine. These parts may also cause problems if they are not installed correctly.
