What's New For the 2021 Kia Sportage?

There are no significant changes for the Kia Sportage for the 2021 model year. This beautifully-designed SUV packs a lot of features with an affordable price point.

What Features Are Available for 2021?

With two rows of seats to accommodate up to five people, the Kia Sportage comes in four trims: LX, S, EX, and SX Turbo. More so than most other compact crossover SUVs, the Sportage is packed with tech features. Remote keyless entry enables you to unlock the doors by simply pressing the corresponding key fob button. The infotainment system-which uses an 8-inch touchscreen-brings together Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, Siri Eyes Free, a USB port and an audio jack for hooking up mobile devices, and a six-speaker audio system.

At the S level, Kia introduces a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leatherette seat trim. The EX adds proximity keyless access, push-button engine start, a rear charging-only USB port, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. Front-seat heating and a power-adjustable driver seat are standard on the EX.

However, go for the SX Turbo for peak comfort and convenience; it is the only trim with leather upholstery, steering-wheel heating, front-seat cooling, a 4.2-inch color digital instrument cluster for displaying vehicle information, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a garage-door opener, wireless charging ability, a voice-activated navigation system with voice-command technology, UVO infotainment integration, trial subscriptions to SiriusXM Radio and SiriusXM Traffic, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound system.

For robust acceleration ability, spring for the aptly named SX Turbo, which is headed by a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Otherwise, the Sportage relies on a 181-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. Front-wheel drive is standard, with the option of an all-wheel-drive system to maximize traction ability.

2021 Sportage Safety Technologies

Even at the base level, the 2021 Sportage has driver-assistance features, which consist of a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, driver attention warning, forward collision warning, and high beam assist. Any of six airbags can be deployed if necessary during a crash.

Kia adds more driver-assistance features-specifically, blind-spot collision warning with rear cross-traffic collision warning-at the S trim level. Exclusive to the SX Turbo smart cruise control with stop-and-go technology and front and rear parking sensors to enhance the rearview camera.
