What's New for the 2023 Kia Sportage

For the new year, the Sportage model gets new hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. This is the main difference from what has gone before.

2023 Sportage Trims and Features

There will be four trims levels for the 2023 Kia Sportage model, which will be the LX, EX, X-Line, SX, or SX-Prestige. The base trim level is the Sportage LX. This is the basic level, and it has standard systems like the forward collision warning and the auto emergency brake. This comes complete with pedestrian and cyclist detection. It also has standard safety systems like the lane departure warning, the lane assist, the lane follow, and the driver attention monitor.

You also get the standard rear parking sensors, rearview monitor, and auto high-beam headlights for only having them on when you need them. The last standard system includes a way to remind you to make sure you haven't forgotten people or pets in the back. You can also get the 12.2-inch digital cluster and Android Auto plus Apple CarPlay for using your phone with the vehicle.

The Sportage EX is next. This is where you get luxury options like the heated front seats, the blind-spot monitor, and a larger infotainment screen. You also can make use of the wireless charging pad so you and your passengers can keep your phones charged.

Next comes the Sportage SX. This gives you the panoramic sunroof and the smart power liftgate for opening when you have your fob on you. Also available is the Harman Kardon audio system.

The Sportage X-line trim is next with the 19-inch wheels and the higher roof rack rails.

The Sportage X-Pro comes after with the all-terrain tires at 17 inches. You also get the heated windshield to dissuade ice from building up. The heated washer nozzles help with this as well. There's an option for ventilated front seats to keep you dry and comfortable too.

2023 Kia Sportage Horsepower

The default powertrain for the Sportage is the 187hp engine with an 8-speed auto transmission. You can upgrade this with the hybrid variant that includes the electric motor. This will give you 226 horsepower instead.

Kia Sportage Safety

The safety systems here include auto emergency braking, pedestrian detection, alertness detection, and much more, all depending on what trim level you choose. The standard systems are fairly extensive on their own, however.
